molecular effect

This report says that many of those who watched film "thanmaathra" left theatres with a haunting doubt that whether this disease can happen to them. I think it is quite natural that people tend to lose some memory and start forgetting things as age increases. But the exaggerated drama and agony in the film might have adversely affected some of the audiences to have such a fear.

Nowadays, "Avan Ramesan Nair aayi" seems to be a popular comment in good humour to describe about persons complaining about memory loss or who forget things quite regularly

Yes, its true. After watching the movie one does get that feeling and start thinking how would we react if it happened to us or our loved ones.

TP, it may not be a healthy thinking, but as suji said if a movie can make you think - why this is happening, what does that means to you, how will you face the realty etc - then that movies message is made clear. You come to know how these ppl react, how the common man reacts to the patient. Just like we make a lot of stuffs on AIDS awareness, I think this has definitely a message. But all said and done "Avan Rameshan Naairaayi" can be considered as a just another comment attributed by hit Malayalam Cinema.
And there are two beautiful scenes in the movie, One which is shown and the other which is not shown(cut due to Malayalees Cultural Consciousness). Now that you are not going to watch it I will brief
1. Jagathi, who is Lal's Colleague, dies even before Lal - just to show that all "manushya janmam" can be stop and end at any time.
2. This scene was cut. Initially there was a scene were the couple makes love and in the midst of it, some noise come due to a lizard or something and Lal wakes up. And after that he just forgets what he was been doing. Just think about the feeling his partner will be going through. It would have been a great scene, understating the real tragedy behind this disease.
God. That is too much.

And so I feel that it is quite natural for us to think in that way only. Do watch it man. Throw away your Mammukka Ego and watch some good films Man

@suji
Surely I will watch this movie when I get a chance

@dhanush - That was pretty long, thank you for the comments.

I am a big fan of all good movies and frankly I don't have any problem in watching thanmaathra, and surely I will do so if I get an opportunity. But what I came to know is that it is highly overrated and media is discussing about this movie like there was not a better film ever in Malayalam films. I wonder whether Shaji's Vanaprastham or Adoor's Kathapurushan received this much attention in Kerala. Anyway, it is good in the other sense as it will inspire other directors to make some good films.

And about Mammukka, he is still the best :-). But I don't know why he wasting his talents in all these pakka commercial movies.

@suji - No point in arguing with this guy.You Don't know him. He had watched Stalin Sivadas alone in a theater when nobody was ready to go with him for that :)

Bus COnductor ine kurichu Kettathu - Meledathu Rameshan Nair kku Baalettanilundaaya Kunjekka ennanu :)

@suneesh - God Bless Him - Why can't he do some stuff like Valsalyam/ Kaazcha - Why he is still running behind all these young heroines? FYI his new heroine is Katrina Kaif. Salman Khan vannu Mammoottikku Massage Cheythu kodutho aavo (remember Udayananu Thaaram)

frankly I like only the first half of the movie.
The way he narrated tooth-brush changed and trying to remember and write the poem is ultimate.
Also liked the way he showed the father-son relationship.

second half is just over characterized. even I dont understand why he died at the end. was it to make women cry? does the people with Alzheimer die sooner! (ok anybody can die at any time) But I felt that all these scenes are just to get sentiment :-?

more @ http://yasj.blogspot.com/2006/02/achanurangatha-veedu.html

anyway it is a good movie with my rating 7/10.
